ALICE IN WONDERLAND THEMED ENTERTAINMENT - PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB

We love Alice in Wonderland themed parties at Calmer Karma!  It’s an excuse to trip the rabbit hole fantastic; show off unprecedented amounts of creativity and tap into playful parts of our imagination that is frowned upon in respectable spider plant wielding offices (but we do love all plants don’t get us wrong).  So when we received the brief from a Premier League Football Club that Alice in Wonderland was their chosen Christmas Party theme we were there with buns on.

Make no mistake; the Alice in Wonderland theme must have certain elements to make it successful for an adult audience; (particularly when it needs to entertain everyone from the security staff on the turn-stiles to the office staff, personal trainers and of course the footballers).  So, here are some top tips on how to create and deliver Alice in Wonderland entertainment with panache, Calmer Karma signature wit and style.   

Essential: 
A handsome, charismatic, madcap Mad Hatter Lookalike who can MC, sing, dance, ad lib for meet and greet and of course perform ‘Futterwacken’(the essential Mad Hatter dance but minus head turning stunt!)– can you imagine the Risk Assessment that would require!).  Mr Mad Hatter, forging ahead to the staged area to host the Wonderland game show; more tea Alice? Ohh and while we are talking about Alice…

Essential: A sweet Alice hostess.  Actually, best get four; it’s a football club!

Essential: A Cheshire Cat contortionist, one that’s sparkly and bright, easy on the Tom Cat eye with massive ears and of course versatile enough to sachet across the bar.


Essential:  A tyrannical Wonderland leader who can address her subjects and is obsessed with the colour red.  This Red Queen is wanted by several organisations including the RSPCA for her sordid involvement in flamingo croquet and so bookings are best kept short and sweet. 

There she is our royal big head surveying her land.  She obviously has a soft spot for that poor soul as she presents an award – keep your head fella.

Very Important:  A drop dead gorgeous sexy Mad March Hare to wow the ladies who have a fancy for animals with long furry ears.  When you are an event manager you have to cater for all tastes and after all, the footballers do have 4 Alices!  But, can he dance?  I suppose you don’t have to when you look that fit in a pair of ears!!! Now you mention it we are rather peckish!

Larger than life Red Cards to serve the Red Queen and for walk about entertainment and later some nifty acrobatics

Important:  A theatrical Mad Hatter Fortune Teller who can create an entire Alice in Wonderland Grotto in which to perform Tea Leaf Readings with super human  powers; to tell the future, give you inspiration and if you’re lucky, a few words of wisdom from Warren Bunny the Wonderland tea party going animal whom there is no stopping.  This is not fortune telling this is Alice in Wonderland Entertainment at its best.  Quirk on and may the Hatter force be with you.

OK we didn’t forget the boys! Introducing our sexy mix and mingle Alice Palm Reader.  She’s ever so popular at events.. can’t think why?.

A roller skating White Rabbit – ah we all love a tea drinking, slightly anxious White Rabbit and there’s no Alice in Wonderland theme complete without him. Hurry the guests are about to arrive through the glass door behind you – you don’t want to be late.

Must have the Twisted Tweedles (Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee) – to spout utter nonsense and turn up in unlikely places especially in the middle of the raffle.

Now to the tricky bit – what big acts that will work with this bonkers Alice in Wonderland theme do you put on the stage?

So we made our way over to the ‘Big Bonkers Acts Corner’ of the office and took advice from the Alice in Wonderland powers that be. There is also a staff sweet jar there.  So, a few Flying Saucers later we came up with this:

Everybody loves a man in a giant balloon, but this is no ordinary man in a balloon. –This is Alice in Wonderland Balloon Man who gets into the balloon as one persona and gets out as another in front of your very eyes.  It’s Wonderland magic in the making. 

But, opening the show is one thing, closing with a big Alice in Wonderland Bang is  another, so after many more Flying Saucers and a few sherbet Dib Dabs we came up with an all singing, all dancing  Bonkers Lady Ga Ga tribute band to get those guests out of their seats and dancing the night away into the early hours. 

And then we served dessert. Alice in Wonderland style of course and yes thatis a cake on her head (the gorgeous Cake Tadah!).

A confession to make; we shrank the Mad March Hare and sneaked him home… hope the guests didn’t notice too much!
